The Missionary Benedictine Sisters are an International Congregation of the Roman Catholic Church serving in 18 Countries throughout the World. The fundamental characteristic of our way of life is seeking God in Community. Our common life finds expression in praying and working together, in sharing our goods, both material and spiritual, and in mutual service, support and encouragement.
The Priory House, located in Nubuamis, 10 kilometres from the city, is the centre for all the Houses in Namibia; it is relatively new. The Sisters' former seat was in the Roman Catholic Hospital next to the Cathedral in Windhoek. The incorporation of a large group of Namibian Sisters into our Congregation necessitated a larger monastery which was built on dry, hilly land in Nubuamis. The Novitiate is located here. The Sisters also run the St. Benedict kindergarten, care for fruit orchards and vegetable gardens, do pastoral work in the neighboring settlements and look after a variety of livestock.
